I’m all about style. Being stylish can carry you through the seasons and allow you to maximize your wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong, trends are fun but trying to purchase every trendy item that hits the market can break the bank. If you find yourself spending more money on trendy pieces that you can only wear once then this is for you.
I found this dress a while back and I knew it would be perfect for spring! It was on sale so apparently it wasn’t considered an “of the moment” piece. But three things caught my eye: the off-the-shoulder sleeves, the blue and white stripes, and the pockets. If pockets are on a dress, then I’m buying it. No questions asked.
Out of the many ways to style this dress, I knew I wanted to create something fun and casual. I recently put together a spring mood board (see it here) that inspired my look. My goal was to incorporate the top spring trends but still be stylish. This look has a total of 5 trends (off-the-shoulder, ruffles, stripes, metallic, and blush pink) but still looks simply chic and it will also carry over to my summer looks. If you want to know 3 ways to look stylish while wearing trends, here’s how:
Stick to the Basics
Look for an item that can be worn in many ways and paired with multiple items. I went with these pink metallic sneakers from H&M because I knew they could easily go with other items in my closet as well as be dressed up or down. The fact that they are solid also means I can pair them with fun prints.
Stick with a Classic Print
Even though this dress has pockets and off the shoulder sleeves, because of the classic blue and white striped print, I can add a white button down and black slacks to make it appropriate for business; or dress it up with wedge heels and clutch for a cool summer vibe. Items can be classic but have a trendy flair. It’s all in how you style it!
Stick to Your Norm
Go for items that suit your style best. If you are a girl who loves prints then go crazy and have fun with mixing them up! If you like to keep it simple, opt for solids or subtle classic prints like stripes or polka dots. In addition, choose a dress that will flatter your figure. This may seem like a no-brainer but choosing a dress that you feel comfortable in means you will wear it with confidence again and again.
This dress is no longer available but I’ve linked 3 dresses below that are similar in style. Can you say popular?! Work those trendy pieces and let your style do the talking!
