Not everyone is blessed to say they inherited style from their mother, grandmother, AND great-grandmother! With a long line of sewers and thrifters preceding, I knew I had stylish shoes to fill.
For as long as I remember, I was taught to look my best no matter what. I was raised on the notion that no matter what the item costs, you are to wear it well. My great grandmother had herself and 5 girls to dress. Imagine having to make sure you and 5 little ladies dressed well! My grandmother also had 5 girls to keep stylish. They would make new outfits and alter ready- to-wear items. They’d shop at thrift stores and accept hand me downs; and it was all done tastefully.
My mother had this routine where she would lay out my clothes on the bed from my undergarments to my purse and accessories. She’d either have my outfit next to them or hanging up in the closet, and my shoes bedside. I still practice that same routine to this day.
Whenever I’d shop with my mom, our first stop would be the sale or clearance rack. She taught me to be fashionable, yet frugal. At this point in my life, I can only afford to window shop for designer items but I do have a wish list of items that I want from my favorite high end brands. I would love to own a classic Chanel bag; but for now, my quilted Target cross body works just fine. Overall, my great grandmother set the tone for the family and I miss her dearly. To this day, my grandmother can pick out items for me and I absolutely love them. I still shop my mom's closet when I am looking for a classic piece. I am proud to say style is in my DNA.

Mommy & Me (She made these outfits!)
This is Gram. She passed a lot of her jewelry down to me and I religiously wear my black turtleneck like this every winter.
This is (Great) Grandma Goldie. She was too fly!
