The Little Black Dress (LBD) is what I'd like to think of as the holy grail of style. It stands the test of time as a wardrobe staple and is something you will have in your closet for years to come. You really cant go wrong with styling it! It's also one of my top five pieces to grab in a crunch because it's slimming and gives a luxe look when dressed up.
I wanted to remix the ever so simple LBD because often times sticking to the same style is a bit basic. I'm a classic girl at heart but these days I'm learning not to hold back and create looks that are not my norm. Since the holidays are a time to add a bit of razzle dazzle, I layered this sleeveless fringe dress with a long sleeved lace top, then added fishnets and edgy booties. Totally out of the box but a unique look nonetheless.
This look would be my go-to for an evening event or dinner. When I was taking this picture by the fire pit, I imagined being on a date with bae. (Disclaimer: There is no bae. Keyword: imagined.) Wouldn't this look be perfect for date night? I'll make sure I refer back to it when the time comes.
I wanted to go fully on edgy for this look so my accessories were simple statement makers. I added drop ball earrings (I guess these are my thing now) and tripled up on my rings. Lets say I was going for edgy with a hint of girly (cue the lace). I really had fun with this look and cant wait to create more to share with you from my closet; and not just for the holidays!
When the holiday season comes around, save your money and try to pull as many pieces from your closet as you can. You already spend enough money on gifts and outings, why not save in at least one area so your pockets aren't hurting overall? The easiest way to remix your wardrobe is to mix and match printed or textured pieces or break up suits and two-piece sets and wear them separately with complimenting items. You can also pull pieces from spring and summer and layer them as well. This will give you a fresh look and it costs zero dollars!
If you must spend, think ahead and start looking at sale and clearance items from the previous year. For example, I scored a dress from H&M on the sale rack for $5. When I went back months later, I saw a similar dress but long sleeved (in the fall) for $10. I just wore the $5 dress for an event a couple of months ago. You never know when you will wear something so if it fits, you really like it, and it's a great price; get it and save it for that special event!
