How an Action Word Vision Board Can Help You Improve Your Life

An action word vision board is a visual tool filled with words that can help you implement positive actions towards your goals. Here's how it can help you improve your life.

I've always been fond of making vision boards (also called mood boards). They activate intentional dreams and affirmative goal setting. They provide a creative outlet that allows you to destress and transcend your thoughts into a positive mental state. There is no right or wrong way to create one. Vision boards can be as simple or as extra as needed. They can be filled with pretty pictures of lavish vacations, future husband and family goals, or the ultimate dream career; but over time I've come to realize that I needed something a bit more concrete to connect to.

Words hold significant meaning to me as they do most. I'm a fan of reading devotionals, reciting affirmations, writing down goals, etc. just as much as I love to turn up to Drake; so adding this to my daily routine was a no brainer. There was something about seeing the actual words as I flipped through several of magazines that stood out to me. I had a huge stack that I was going to throw out and something said you need to grab these words and hold on to them. Prior to sifting through the magazines, I had a few cutouts already set aside that I wanted to use for a new vision board and in that moment decided to only use action words and phrases. I sat on the floor and started placing them on my cork board. There was no particular order but I did notice I gravitated towards words related to business, style, growth, and time. I did this while I was on the phone with my mom and my big bro having an in-depth conversation about life, faith, and stying positive. Perfect timing right? As I placed the words on the board my energy and mood shifted. It gave me a sense of peace as well as a sense of accomplishment. My action word vision board now sits on my desk facing me. Sort of like the words are staring me in the face as a mirror image of everything that I'd like to continue to be and the things I'd like to manifest. Even when I don't sit at my desk the words catch my eye in passing. A constant reminder to "Spring into Action" and "Make It Happen". Yep, those two quotes are on my vision board.

This is not a post to tell you to stop creating picturesque vision boards. It's simply to share an idea of another option because sometimes words resonate more than pictures. The best part is, you can create one at anytime. They are not just for a new year or a new season. They can be used as a means to get you out of a dark place or even boost creativity while your stuck in a rut. Grab a few magazines, cut out the words and phrases that are meaningful to you, and place them on a cork or poster board. It doesn't have to be perfect. Remember the most valuable steps while doing this are the flow of the creative process and intention behind it. Don't be afraid to implement positive vibes into your routine that will keep you on track and boost your mood, especially on the days when you don't always see the vision clearly or you feel like you want to give up.

Are you a fan on vision boards? Do you think an action word vision board would help you stay focused on your goals? What words or phrases caught your eye at first glance?
