A tartan flannel in the spring? Unheard of. Especially in Florida. Then again, we haven't really seen the springiest of Spring yet. I think that the Spring Equinox gets us all hype until we check the weather and it's a cool 58 and may need a coat for the first 4 hours of the day. Let's calm down folks! (*queue Blue Ivy*) What I'm trying to say is, don't put all of your wardrobe eggs in one basket. Those winter tops can work to your advantage. A flannel shirt is a great transitional piece to keep in rotation and add to your faux spring wardrobe...especially if you're in a hurry to get to spring wasted wearing the brights, pastels, and florals. It's not as heavy as a coat or a jacket and it's not too light where that breeze will have you out here chilly in these bipolar weather streets. If you're in need of some style inspiration I'm here to give you just that. See below how I styled the House of Rehab Flannel shirt with a spring remix 4 ways.
Look #1: Color Punch
I wanted to do something bright and fun to bring in all the spring feels. Red and yellow are primary colors that play well together. The yellow adds a punch of color to the look and compliments the red instead of overpowering it.
Pants: Goodwill
Shoes: Target
Sunnies: Forever 21
Look #2: Flannel & Floral
Mixing prints is always in style. Usually the rule is that the larger print goes on the bottom but who follows rules these days?! I wanted all the spring feels with this look but wanted to add a bit of edge. The fanny adds the trendy vibes. Pearl earrings tie in with the floral dress to give it a pretty chic feel.
Dress: H&M
Boots: Shoe Dazzle
Earrings: Forever 21
Look #3: Utility Meets Flannel
First and foremost, I'm in love with this jumpsuit because it's a dream come true. I've been looking all over for one with great material that fits perfectly. Btw, it was only $10. I added the flannel on top for a layered effect and tied it around my waist for a different vibe. The leopard pumps just say, "Yep, I'm the boss!"
Jumpsuit: Target
Shoes: Rainbow
Handbag: Goodwill
Look #4: Not So Basic
This is your not so basic basic outfit. Make sure that you use this exact statement when your friends call or text and ask you what you're wearing when going out. If they aren't hearing it you can still reply with, "Just a shirt and some jeans". They've been warned. P.S. I put the shirt on, buttoned three buttons up, turned it around, and tucked the collar. Voila, a new look!
