The deets on the detox you need to help you shed your #Quarantine15 are here! Every time I share The Arden's Garden 2-Day Fruit Juice Detox I get tons of questions about it. So I decided what better way to share my experience and give all of the deets than in a blog post!
I initially found out about the detox from my insta-boo, Hali. She always shares great workouts and health and wellness products. I was very excited about the detox but I didn't know what to expect. I honestly just wanted to shed a few pounds to be able to fit in my jeans again. And it worked! This is my second time doing it so I figured I would document the process. Mine may be a bit different from the instructions given by Arden's Garden but I tweaked it for personal health reasons. This post is strictly to share my experience, give you details, and answer your questions!

My Feedback
I recommend this cleanse if you're looking to shed a few pounds and detox your whole body. It is gentle and the most you will do is urinate a lot and have regular bowel movements. Mine were more frequent and smoother. It doesn't make your stomach cramp or make you feel sick. As I cleansed throughout the day I noticed my stomach would tighten and I would feel less bloated.
It is recommended that you DO NOT eat for the full 48 hours (2 days) but I found myself getting a bad headache on the first day. It was probably from trying not to think about not eating. It's definitely a mind over matter situation. If you're used to intermittent fasting and juice cleanses then it shouldn't be a problem for you! The first time I completed the detox, I ate a vegetable puree soup from Panera both days. I'm not ashamed to say I wasn't well equipped to handle the 24 hour fasting. I did finish the detox in the 2-Day time frame but it was a bit difficult for me. I probably didn't drink enough water and it's recommended to do so to enhance the cleansing process so I'll take that into account the next time I do it. The second time I did it not much changed. I recommend easing back into eating after the detox. What's the point of cleansing and adding toxins right back into your body right? My diet consisted of fruit, vegetables, protein, whole grains, and water. And yes, my jeans fit. Both times! I didn't weigh myself but I will next time and update this post on the before and after. Now, let's dive into the questions!
Q&A
Q: What happens when you get hungry?
A: When I get hungry, I eat. I limit my intake to only fruits and veggies. Nothing more. I figured it would be best to nourish my body with things that add nutrients. I would even recommend a greens smoothie or juice. It will help combat hunger and not really deter your overall goal to detox. Please note, I do this only when the hunger is unbearable and I have a headache. Normally, I'm used to working and forgetting to eat (horrible habit, I know) but it's a different kind of hungry in my opinion. Overall, I suggest to do what's best for you. You don't want to pass out or cause health related issues just to get snatched!
Q: How does it taste?
A: It tastes like watered down fruit juice. I'm not a juice drinker other than the occasional taste for orange juice. So the taste didn't bother me but it is an acquired taste. When I did the detox the first time I didn't care for it. But it grew on me. The ingredients are distilled water, grapefruit juice, orange juice, lemon juice.
Q: Does it help cut out your sugar cravings? Have you noticed any other benefits besides weight/water loss?
A: It did cut out my sugar cravings, temporarily. I say that because I did away with sugar for a while. I went from eating a lot of candy to only having dessert every now and then. FYI, I didn't do this detox on or near my menstrual cycle. This most recent detox was not s beneficial to me because I didn't stick to a strict diet right after. I waited two days too long to go grocery shopping and ate out. Other benefits included: my appetite was suppressed, I had more energy, and I exercised more consistently.
Q: Do you feel hungry? I never tried a detox because I don't want to feel hungry and I have low energy.
A: I do feel hungry every time I do it. My suggestion is to have a strict diet when you do the detox. So for me that meant to only eat fruit and veggies or a broth, juice, or smoothie. This helps with the hungry feeling and helps to aide in the detox process a bit.
Q: How often do you detox?
A: Whenever I feel like it but I want to detox every month! I think I do some sort of detox or cleanse by drinking hot lemon water in the mornings or drinking a detox tea. My first Arden's detox was in December. The second one was this month, April. I plan to make it a habit to use this detox once a month.
Q: Does it taste like juice or Sunny D, that powdery Tang?
A: Lol, it tastes like flavored water or watered down juice. Remember if you get it from your local grocer and absolutely hate it you can always return it. Also, Arden's Garden has probiotic shots, other juices, and stand alone store locations in Georgia with a snack menu! They have a lot of product options and a variety of cleanses in juice packs.
